Mariko Komuro was born in Tokyo, Japan. Her mother was a violin teacher who
began instructing her at age three. After graduating from the Toho School of
Music, Mariko moved to New York City. There she studied with the renowned
teacher, Dorothy DeLay, who invited her into the Julliard School of Music.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Several years later Mariko continued her instruction with Joseph
Fuchs, the former concert master of the Cleveland Orchestra under
George Szell. She was one of the leading players of her generation and a
prize winner of the NHK\/Mainichi Music competition, in Japan. Mariko
represented Japan in Italy, where she competed as a semifinalist in the
International Paganini Competition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After years of competitions and formal studies, Mariko went on to play
with various orchestras, most notably The New York Pops, under maestro
Skitch Henderson. She performs at different venues around the city, such as Carnegie Hall and the Lincoln Center theaters, as a soloist, chamber music player and orchestral player. She is grateful to have a life full of wonderful music<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
